In a room filled with screens and a gaming chair,Lived a boy that was a champion player

His games were his world, his joy, his pridebut his mom longed for her boy by their side

come join us for dinner his mother would pleadbut the boy said "no thank you" games are all i need

His mother did not appreciate the curt replySo she turned the games off despite the boys cry

that night he was angry his thoughts in a knotthen a star caught his eye gleaming brighter than it ought

"A life in a game, that's my wish," said he,The boy fell asleep and his wish became reality

The next morning he woke in a world that was newHe was dressed like a knight with new gear "this is cool"

How to start? that was easy and funKill bad guys collect gold, beat the game, you're done

But the longer he played the more he could seethe characters where hollow, the victories...empty

he beat the game again and againbut this game, he realized, did not end

he missed his mom's smile, how he felt in her embraceHe longed for real warmth, not this cold, empty place

He was stymied and floundered, what could he do"This game doesn't turn off! Even when i'm through"

Then he thought about the game and how it wanted him to play"but maybe" he thought "if I lost in some spectacular way?"

He cast aside loot, his swords, and his shield,And faced the boss, on the dark battlefield.

He approached the end willing to succumbHe thought of his home, his family, his mom

The beast slashed through his heart with a deafening roarthen he collapsed, with a thud his body hit the floor

"The pain feels real" he thought, and it hadn't beforeand suddently where the dragon was there appeared a door

he crawled to the door his strength fading fastThe handle was warm, a twist, was he free at last?

The boy was in his chair with the game still onHe turned it off, just then he heard his mom

"Dinner is ready, will you please come here"He rushed down the stairs and saw his family there

His mom touched his cheek while at his face she gazedWith a tear in his eye, he sank into her grace

Warmth swelled where his heart had been slashedThis moment with mom is the wish he should have asked

The boy no longer felt hungry for a video gameand the mother new her boy was not the same

The boy always remembered the eternal game with no endAnd how he felt so alone with no family no friends

It's not to say games aren't fun when they areit can be too much when we take them too far

Just like this boy felt left in cold lonely placesLife has no meaning without the loved ones embraces

the end
